Christmas Gift Ideas For Female Travelers

Female Travel

It’s that time again when the bakeries open with reindeer frosting and they’re Christmas sales around every corner. It’s a mad house on Black Friday and people are rummaging around trying to find the perfect gift for that special someone. I love Christmas not only because of the gifts, grandma’s famous no bake cookies and eggnog, but also because it brings us all together to celebrate the birth of Christ. This will be my first Christmas without my family and I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do. So for now, buying Christmas gifts, spending time with my boyfriend and decorating my locker at work are in order.

With every traveler comes very little, however specific needs and let’s face it, we’re kind of hard to buy for because unless fits into our carry-on and weighs next to nothing, we don’t want it! Here is a small list of things you can buy your female traveler whether you’re on a budget or ready to splurge.

  • GoPro Travelers love to take pictures and for good reason – we want to remember the memories. However, there’s a debate on whether you should take in the moment through the lens or let it be and breathe in the fresh air. With a Go Pro, you never have to worry about missing the moment. Just set your camera to video or shutter mode before you get to your destination. It’s a nice way to have the best of both worlds.
  • Small makeup bag – Every girl loves to look pretty no matter what they tell you and a little mascara can go a long way. That’s why I say a small waterproof make-up bag is the perfect gift!
  • Gregory backpack/ Travelers backpack – I love adventures and I love traveling, but it’s a little hard to do on wheels sometimes. When you have a backpack you have the luxury of swinging it over your shoulders and just going. No need to worry about the stairs or little annoying bumps in the road that’ll flip your luggage upside-down. The Gregory backpack is also built for stamina and comfort and doesn’t put all the weight on your shoulders. It has a hip strap and chest strap to alleviate most of the weight.
  • Small day bag – Gregory backpacks are where it’s at, but sometimes you just want to take a small day trip and need no more than your phone, wallet, water and your camera. That’s when a small day pack can come into play. I hate carrying around big bags that have nothing in them but the small stuff because all the stuff goes to the bottom and weighs you down more than you think. Small day packs are a great gift and fairly inexpensive.
  • Yoga mat – The Ultimate Yogi with Travis Elliot was one of the first things Caleb and I started to do once he arrived in Taiwan. The problem was I only had one yoga mat and sometimes we like to do yoga together. Practicing yoga with your partner can not only be fun but also enhance your relationship. Caleb and I have just started to try couple’s yoga poses and it’s wonderful having two mats instead of one – – incase I fall ):
  • A PLANE TICKET! – When my boyfriend asked me what I wanted for my birthday back in July, I couldn’t really think of much that I wanted. But when he mentioned going to the Philippines in January and how he would be willing to pay for my flight, I immediately said yes! Sometimes tangible things aren’t worth as much as an experience. Right now I’m saving for bills and trips and would rather not worry about a plane ticket. It’s the perfect gift for a traveler, just make sure it’s somewhere where you know they want to go );
  • Hobby Accessories – Is she a surfer or likes to dive? Then buy her a wet suit or a new cute bathing suit. Does she enjoy hiking or trekking through the jungle? A GPS or some nice polyester shirts work fine, too! Anything that can supplement her hobby = a win!
  • An e-book – Almost every traveler I’ve met loves to read. Maybe it’s because we’re always looking for new things to learn and worlds to explore. Buying a hard or soft cover will just take up space (although we do love those best!), so an e-book will suffice.

A word of caution for buyers – the female traveler likes long and extended trips. This could include carrying the weight of everything she has on her back, through mass crowds and through a variety of different weather patterns. In this case, you should try to buy her light-weight, water proof items that are capable of surviving the storm. Take my advice – wet clothes, or anything for that matter is uncomfortable and heavy. She will be more likely to throw it away before deciding to try and bring it along her long expedition.
